Ateliere Fără Frontiere and BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions Romania support access to online education by donating 70 computers

Ateliere Fără Frontiere and BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions Romania support students from families without material possibilities from 8 Romanian localities, directly impacted during the suspension of courses in pre-university education, through a donation consisting of 70 refurbished computers, part of the Solidarity for Digital Education project.

The 70 computers refurbished by the association will be used by students from educational establishments in Ialomita, Iasi, Ilfov, Buzau, Brasov and Dolj counties, including blind students, who during this period need the necessary facilities to continue their home learning courses.  After schools opening classes in September, the IT equipment will be used to facilitate computer labs in these schools.

Computers reconditioning was possible with the involvement of BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions, a long-standing partner of Ateliere Fără Frontiere, who decided to support this initiative for the second consecutive year.

Lionel Piquer, Country Manager BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions pointed: In the continuity of its CSR strategy, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions team is delighted to bring its support to its partner AFF for sustaining the Romanian education of disadvantaged children.”

We constantly continue to help reducing the computer gap among students, especially now that education involves costs that not all families can afford. In the same time we care for the environment and people as the reconditioning of these computers has been done by vulnerable, excluded and marginalized people who are preparing for social and professional integration on the conventional labor market.” completed Damien Thiery, General Manager Ateliere Fără Frontiere

Solidarity for Digital Education is a project in a long line of Ateliere Fără Frontiere initiatives aimed reducing the IT technological gap between rural and urban areas, as the association donated until now more than 16,000 refurbished computers to schools, non-profit organisations and public social institutions for the implementation of educational projects whose beneficiaries are young people and children from disadvantaged communities.

The computers that will be used to attend the online courses arrived last week at Blind School (Buzau), Tandarei Tehnological High School (Ialomita), „Roman Ialomițeanul” Axintele Middle School (Ialomita), Sadova Middle School (Dolj), Crizbav Middle School (Brasov), Sacele 5 Middle School (Brasov), NGO Voice of Life Association (Iasi), Peris Placement Center (Ilfov).
